The Broadway Subway Project is being constructed in the ancestral territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Engagement and consultation with First Nations began in 2016 and is ongoing. This includes information sharing, incorporation of input into Project documents, consultation on the Environmental and Socio-Economic Review, participation in field studies and discussions around cultural recognition.

Archaeology monitoring for the Broadway Subway Project is provided by Musqueam Indian Band, Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Squamish Nation.

First Nations art will also be included in the Broadway Subway Project art program.
