Temporary vehicle closure of Broadway at Main Street in effect
One block of E. Broadway between Main and Quebec streets is closed to vehicles for approximately 4 months.
Sidewalks on E. Broadway will remain open. Residences, businesses and services will remain open and accessible.
All 44 traffic deck panels and supporting girders have been removed. Crews are completing utility relocations, backfilling, and rebuilding the road above Mount Pleasant Station.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, January 26, the block of E. Broadway between Main and Quebec streets will be closed to all vehicle traffic for approximately four months.
During this time, buses and local traffic will be detoured around the one-block closure using E. 8th Avenue.
Sidewalks will remain open on E. Broadway and access to businesses, services and residences will be maintained at all times.
Work hours: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. There may be occasional finishing work onsite after 10 p.m., work on Sundays or on holidays.
Crews will remove the traffic deck panels and supporting girders. Activities include, but are not limited to, backfilling, road repairs, crane activities, saw cutting, welding, as and when needed landscaping and occasional hydro vac.

Over the next three months, crews will focus on waterproofing, concrete pours, rebar work, and backfilling around the station entrance and the area where tracks transition from elevated to tunnels.
Regular work hours are Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. There may be occasional work on Sundays and holidays.
When overnight work is required, work hours can range from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Over the last few months, crews have completed a major milestone: track installation is now fully connected from VCC–Clark Station through to Broadway–City Hall Station.
Work at the elevated guideway will continue through the fall as rail is welded and pulled into the remaining tunnels all the way to Arbutus Station.
Regular hours on the elevated guideway are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
You may experience some elevated noise during specific activities.
Mount Pleasant Station
Typical hours of work: 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Trucks may arrive on site as early as 5 a.m. Intermittent night work.

This work is required in preparation for the reinstatement of permanent utilities in the area and marks the next stage of construction for the future Mount Pleasant station.

Crews are building the new station, including concrete and rebar activities with increased deliveries of supplies.
Crews are backfilling the station near Alberta Street, which is the process of filling the space between the underground station roof and the road above.
Lane reductions on Cambie Street due to construction of the Canada Line/Millennium Line underground connections.
Work on Cambie Street east sidewalk between Broadway and 10th Avenue to complete Canada Line/Millennium Line underground connections.
Work at the future Broadway-City Hall Station is progressing, and in the coming months crews will continue installing permanent storm and sanitary utilities in the area. This work will be completed in phases and is expected to continue through the spring.
Regular work hours are Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. There may be occasional work on Sundays and holidays.
Some activities, such as tie-ins to existing utilities, or installing temporary bypasses, may require overnight work between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Traffic will not be permitted northbound on Yukon Street between W. 8th Avenue and W. Broadway.

Backfilling is set to begin as early as October 28 at Broadway-City Hall Station, in the area between Alberta and Yukon streets. This is the second station on the Broadway Subway Project to reach this milestone. Backfilling is the process of filling the space between the station roof and the surface. This work will result in increased trucking activity, some traffic impacts, and intermittent noise as material is delivered to the excavation, positioned and compacted.
Work hours for backfilling are Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Backfilling operations will take place on W. Broadway between Alberta and Yukon streets, and on Yukon Street south of W. Broadway.
The first phase of backfilling is expected to take approximately five to 10 weeks and is weather-dependent. Backfilling will continue after permanent utility work is complete.

Oak-VGH Station

Crews are now reinstating permanent utilities in and around the station, including street-level work on Oak Street and W. Broadway.
Typical hours of work are from Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. There may be occasional work that starts earlier or work on Sunday and holidays.
Regular temporary lane closures on W. Broadway between Oak and Laurel streets between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., overnight or on weekends may be implemented to support construction activities and deliveries.
Station construction is expected to continue through 2026.
Work on the future Oak-VGH station is progressing and crews will begin reinstating permanent utilities in the area as soon as the end of November. Utility work is expected to be completed through spring 2026.

Regular temporary lane closures on W. Broadway between Oak and Laurel streets between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., overnight or on weekends may be implemented to support construction activities and deliveries.
South Granville Station
Typical hours of work: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Regular night work.
Crews are building the new station, including concrete and rebar activities with increased deliveries of supplies.
Permanent utility relocation work ongoing on Hemlock Street and W. Broadway with intermittent lane closures.
Permanent utility work at the future South Granville Station is ongoing. Crews will be completing utility reinstatement work at the intersection of W. Broadway and Hemlock Street during the night to minimize daytime traffic disruptions.
Night work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., for approximately two weeks, starting as early as March 9, 2026.
Activities include: hydrovac as required, concrete chipping, excavation and installation of the permanent utilities, backfilling and resurfacing work.
While we strive to complete noisy work by 10 p.m., this work is sequential, so some noisy activities will need to happen after 10 p.m.
This winter, crews are reinstating permanent utilities in and around the station.
Regular hours of work are from Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. There may be occasional work that starts earlier or work on Sunday and holidays.
Regular temporary lane closures on W. Broadway on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., overnight or on weekends to support construction activities.
Station construction is expected to continue through 2026.
Permanent utility work at the future South Granville Station is expected to begin in late November now that preparatory bypass activities have been completed.

Temporary lane closures and changes to pedestrian access to accommodate the reinstatement of utility pipes and equipment staging.
Arbutus Station
Typical hours of work: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Regular night work.
Crews are building the new station, including concrete and rebar activities with increased deliveries of supplies.
W. Broadway reduced to one lane in each direction between Burrard and Arbutus streets to support construction activities.
Utility investigations along W. Broadway between Arbutus and Cypress streets will begin February 25. This work is required to prepare for the reinstatement of permanent utilities in the area.
The utility pre-locates work and the backfilling activities between Arbutus and Cypress streets are expected to continue through February.
Utility investigation activities are expected to begin at the northwest corner of W. Broadway and Arbutus Street and will then move to Cypress Street.
Regular work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities will focus on locating existing utilities, saw cutting, hydro-vac excavation, compacting of material and backfilling.
Crews will continue the construction of the future Arbutus Station. This work includes rebar installation, carpentry and related activities mostly inside the station
Regular work hours continue through the day and night hours proceed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Some intermittent elevated noise related to construction activities.

This winter, construction at the future Arbutus Station is entering a new phase, with crews beginning the reinstatement of permanent utilities, while also progressing backfilling, masonry, mechanical and electrical work, and planning the traffic deck removal.
In addition, crews will be advancing construction of the station’s above-ground structure, which will be visible at the northeast corner of W. Broadway and Arbutus Street.
Regular hours of work are from Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. There may be occasional work that starts earlier or work on Sunday and holidays.
Station construction is expected to continue through 2026.
This December, the Broadway Subway Project crew at Arbutus Station begins the second phase of backfilling along Broadway, between Maple and Cypress streets.
Work hours are Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Activities are expected to continue through January and are weather dependent.
Work will continue inside the tunnels to build the concrete base for track installation and install track and other systems.
Crews are excavating and building the multiple service passages between the twin tunnels.
While crews work inside the tunnels, ventilation fans will be in operation at each station as they play a crucial role in maintaining optimal air quality within the tunnels.
While tunnel activities take place below ground, some activities such as soil and debris removal, concrete pours, and material deliveries will require equipment operating at street level at the future station sites.
